It's time for me to report my progress. I actually had a great first week. I really enjoyed the exercising and even though it was really hard to eat so much less than I am used to, it wasn't that bad. Here's a chart of what I did:
4 Jan - Bike 50 min., DDR 20 min, less than 1000 calories
5 Jan - DDR 15 min, 1100 calories
6 Jan - Weights 20 min., Bike 35, DDR 15, 1100 calories
7 Jan - Weights 20 min., Bike 45, Basketball 45, 1300 calories
8 Jan - Weights 20 min, Bike 34, Stairs 9, DDR 35, 1500 calories
9 Jan - less than 1000 calories
5 Jan - DDR 15 min, 1100 calories
6 Jan - Weights 20 min., Bike 35, DDR 15, 1100 calories
7 Jan - Weights 20 min., Bike 45, Basketball 45, 1300 calories
8 Jan - Weights 20 min, Bike 34, Stairs 9, DDR 35, 1500 calories
9 Jan - less than 1000 calories
And the result, as of this morning on the same scale and at the same time . . .
I weigh: 178 lbs.
That's 6 lbs. lighter than last week and I am very excited. I really wanted to give in, yesterday, when we were at two different family get togethers and there was some super awesome food prepared, but I only had one serving of food at one of the parties and nothing at the other. Now I can see that it was worth it! :)

woohoo! great job, amiga!
Yay! Congrats! That's a lot of work and a lot of weight!!
One question. Do you feel hungry on the days you aren't even eating 1000 calories????
That is awesome Mindi! Are you following a specific diet plan or just watching your calories?
Keep it up!
Forgive me--but how are you doing less than 1000 calories? I've just heard (especially since recently had a baby--and still breast feeding part time) that less than 1000 calories today leads to problems with leaching of calcium and iron? Most of the calories from calcium/iron rich foods--or are you taking a supplement? I known one of my friends (she's vegan, I think) did it successfully with supplements--so forgive me for asking. Just interested. But wow with the exercise!
Congrats!! You are giving my motivation!! I need to get in better shape before trek!!
Goooooooo, Mindi!
Sounds like you're off to a great start! I have a friend who is a licensed nutritionist and she gives some great weight loss advice on her blog (http://florencesuzette.blogspot.com). Let me tell you, she knows her stuff. She counseled another friend of mine and helped her put a diet plan together, and the transformation was AMAZING. The friend who lost the weight was sssoooo happy with the plan because she wasn't hungry, and she felt like she could live on that diet forever.
A healthy lifestyle is a great goal! I applaud you!
