Kelsea's 11th Birthday

For Kelsea's 11th Birthday, we had decided to let her take a small group of friends and stay in a hotel for the night. We had contacted all of the parents and asked their permission and everyone gave the okay. We do not allow sleepovers, so this was a very rare occasion. Well, when we listened to Elder Lawrence's talk this past conference, we both felt strongly that we should not do the hotel party. Kelsea was really bummed, but felt like it was the right thing to do. We contacted all of the parents again and let them know we would not be going to a hotel. Instead, Kelsea decided to go ice skating and I must say, the girls had the time of their lives!! There was hardly anyone there and we stayed until it closed. We had cake and hot chocolate and the girls had some pretty awesome blisters as we traveled home.

On Kelsea's actual birthday, we invited all of Jason's family over to celebrate and it was a lot of fun. We played games and ate lots of goodies. Kelsea seemed to have a great birthday! :)

Mindi, way to be "courageous parents". I'm sure the hotel could have been fine, but going with those feelings is always the right thing to do. :) Looks like skating was an AWESOME alternative.
